Illinois Zombies

My favorite album of 2005, hands down, is Sufjan Stevens's Come On Feel the Illinoise! The following line really got to me today:

I know, I know my time has passed.
I'm not so young, I'm not so fast.
I tremble with the nervous thought
Of having been, at last, forgot.

That's from his song "They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back from the Dead!! Run for Your Lives! Ahhhhhh!!" Touching, no?

That's the truth I seem to always struggle with: Are we really ever forgot? Po.mo. would lead us to believe that our sphere of influence is smaller anyway in a world like this right?

More importantly, the creator of the Universe still loves us, will never forget us, and cares for us deeply.

But, ahh, the glory of the 30's; I realized today as I was driving into work and seeing students land on campus - has it really been a decade since I got my B.S.? :)
