Wholle Llotta Llamas

Is there any word quite so endearing as llama? It evokes such warm feelings for me; when I was a kid my uncle the Father sent us from Bolivia a llama-fur wall hanging, which held a place of honor in my bedroom for years. It was soft and fuzzy, warm and cute, the closest thing to a pet I had--if you don't count Cinnamon the impish hamster and the fish-with-the-short-lifespan. So now, llamas--which to my knowledge are not indigenous to the North American midwest, are popping up all over the place. Web has one on his site right now; and mad props to the queen of llama llovers, Llama Momma. And of course how can I keep typing llama without thinking of Jenn with two nns? It's true: llamas bring people together.

I started to notice llamas more often when my kids started watching Jimmy Neutron on Nick. His buddy Carl is llama crazy and he seems to find a way to mention llamas in each episode. Then, of course, there is the crazy llama that lives down the street from us...

Plus, isn't if fun just to say llama?

My mom said I should come over here--thanks for another link! Yay!

Also, my friend Molly calls herself the Molly Llama (I don't think "lama"). Also, I have llama earrings.

The funniest llama refrence is in the movie Dude, Where's My Car (yes, I'm admitting to the fact that I watched it once in some kind of stupor). The two protagonists are being chased by an angry OSTRICH, and one of them shouts out "Help, we're being attacked by a llama!" I know, it doesn't sound funny. But think about it, an ostrich moving at high speeds and causing large amounts of panic could maybe be mistaken for a llama. . . okay, maybe not. But it is funny.
