Bawdy Humor Virus of the Day

Here's a news bite from Relevant.com:
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has released a statement
that said there is no danger from a natural gas odor that is being reported in
Manhattan. Residents have been smelling the strange odor all morning, which is
apparently from a minor gas leak. "We are waiting for the gas to pass," the
mayor said. Yes, that is an exact quote

Thank God for Michael Bloomberg, who today gives us a chance to play our very own version of "Overheard in New York." I beg you, I beseech you, I implore you to take this joke in the waiting wherever your juvenile sense of humor allows you to go. Here's a couple entries from me to prime your pump:
  • The plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty has been updated to read as follows: "Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, and tell them to pull my finger."
  • "If I can break wind there, I'll break it anywhere!"

You're not going to include a chapter on this in your new book, are you? :)

Could go in the second edition of Don Everts's The Smell of Sin, I suppose.

Here's another few more candidates:

"Rosie O'Donnell was quick to blame Donald Trump."

"Welcome to the big, stinky, rotten apple."

"You think this is bad, you should smell Denmark."

Anybody else?

Hey Dave
have you written anything on Marvel Civil War? I've been keeping up with it and think it's an incredible story. To me there are 2 great story types. One is ultimate good vs. ultimate evil, where good is (of course) the underdog (ie- harry potter, star wars, etc...) and two, stories that pit to good moral choices against each other (as Civil War does). This always puts my belief system to the test and make me take a hard look about what i really believe, because as much as i want to I wouldn't be able to stand for both sides. So anyway, just wondering what your take on it was.
Happy Micronesian Constitution Day!!!

The Denial State - It wasn't me, it was New Jersey...

Nice one, Damon! Good to hear from you!

I've only read the New Avengers entries in the Civil War. I do like the concept and will probably load up on the TPBs when they start to roll out. Captain America is, in my mind, one of the most important characters Marvel has, considering how they reintroduced the character and how the country has changed since the reintroduction. To be American, in the minds of many, is to be civilly disobedient. So Captain America--the symbol of the American spirit--is being chased as "public enemy number one." But wait--one of his oldest and best friends (Iron Man) and Marvel's most iconic character (Spider-Man) have embraced the idea that Captain America is fighting against. Marvel's doing a great job of fleshing out the ethical blind spots of some pretty substantial characters--and the ethical ambiguity of the democratic process along the way.

Great joke, BTW: State of Denial! Har har!
